who said Victorians never had any fun??

MEDICINAL FLUID EXTRACTS MANUFACTURED BY JOHN WYETH & BROTHER, with Doses,
Remedial Attributes, and Formulae for Extemporaneous Preparations.

Philadelphia: 1892.

A fascinating catalog of medicinal extracts offered to druggists and
physicians, with complete descriptions of ingredients, instructions for
use, and dosages. Syrup of Musk Root, Tincture of Dwarf Elder, Hemlock
bark, Infusion of Henbane, Tincture of Indian Hemp... Probably not more
than 50 of these are considered either harmful or illegal these days. An
introductory page notes that many other manufacturers use poor methods to
gather and process the plants used to produce these extracts, resulting in
inferior compounds. John Wyeth & Brother was founded in 1860 and continues
today as Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a multi-national pharmaceutical company.
OCLC locates 8 copies of this edition.

Hardcover. 5"x8", 259 pages; original green pebbled cloth with gilt cover
title. Covers with some wear and soil; printed on poor quality paper, the
pages are browned and very brittle; the title page is splitting away from
the binding for about 3/4 of its length and has a short closed tear.
