Lester, C. Edwards & Andrew Foster. THE LIFE AND VOYAGES OF AMERICUS
VESPUCIUS; with Illustrations Concerning the Navigator, and the Discovery
of the New World.

New York; Baker & Scribner: 1846. 1st Edition.

A scholarly attempt to examine the Vespucci controversy -did he or didn't
he "discover" the American mainland 6 days before John Cabot? Did he even
make a voyage to America at all? There is also an interesting examination
of the Vespucci family and a very graphically pleasing folding family tree
-a real tree.

Hardcover. 6.5"x9.5", xviii + 431 pages, plus a steel-engraved frontispiece
and a folding genealogical tree of the Vespucci family. Plus a 26 page
catalog of other books by the publisher. A clean copy with a noticeable
1/4" missing from both the head and tail of the spine. There is a little
chipping at the tips and a little light spotting on the endpapers, but
except for the chipped spine this is a very nice copy. [00206] $250.00
