This early treatise on the rights of the Holy Roman Empire over individual
states, especially those ruled by German princes, filled a major void in
international law and international relations. As one of the earliest and most
important works in this particular field, it subsequently was printed time and time
again for the next century and a half. Jacob Wimpheling was the editor, and
has contributed the Dedicatory poem. His colleague, the famed Sebastian Brandt,
has contributed three poems. Hain-Copinger 2725; Goff L 399; BMC III, 796. The
very rare first edition; the sole fifteenth century edition.
