"Constitutions de la Nation Francaise, avec un essai de traite historique
et politique sur la charte, et un recueil de pieces correlatives... Tome
Premier"

by [Jean Denis] le Comte Lanjuinais. Published in Paris by la Librairie
Constitutionnelle de Baudouin Freres, in 1819.

The first volume (of 2) of a scholarly discussion of the French
Constitution by one of the foremost legal minds in Revolutionary France.
Lanjuinais (1753-1827) was admitted to the bar at 19 and was an early
proponent of the dissolution of the Monarchy, but then moderated his
position, voted against the death of Louis XVI, and was finally excluded
from the Assembly and placed under arrest by the Girondins, from whom he
hid for a year. He was readmitted to the Convention in 1795 and continued
to be an independent agitator, as well as a lecturer on Roman law and an
Orientalist.
