Greetings Booklovers,

Darwin's HMS Beagle journal was originally published as the natural

and Australian surveying voyages of the ships HMS Adventure and Beagle. The
present set, published by Harper & Brothers as Vols. X and XI in their New
Miscellany series, was Darwin's first published appearance in the United

later evolutionary theories. FREEMAN #383. Bound in original dark brown

Blind-stamped borders to upper and lower boards, illustration of hands
passing a torch stamped in gilt on upper boards and in blind on lower

opened affecting edges. Minor wear at spine extremities including shallow
chipping at heads of spines. The lower joints of both volumes have minor
splits to the cloth toward head of spines. A remarkably well preserved set
