AND  PLANS  OF  THE MOST IMPROVED SORTS OF APPARATUS NOW  EMPLOYED  AT
THE  GAS WORKS IN LONDON, AND THE PRINCIPAL PROVINCIAL TOWNS OF  GREAT
BRITAIN;  ACCOMPANIED WITH COMPARATIVE ESTIMATES, EXHIBITING THE  MOST
ECONOMICAL  MODE OF PROCURING THIS SPECIES OF LIGHT. Octavo  (5-1/2" x
9")  bound in original decorated boards crudely rebacked with binder's
tape;  [ii], xv, [i], 334, [2 ads] pages. Complete, illustrated with a
hand-colored  title page and six folding hand-colored plates, the last
plate  being  a  large depiction of a gas works. Accum's  A  PRACTICAL
TREATISE  ON  GAS-LIGHT, published in 1815, is widely acknowledged  as
being  responsible  for  the adoption of gas lighting  in  London  and
other  large  cities.  Two plates have long, neatly repaired  (on  the
verso)  tears,  and  there are a few short splits, but  the  color  is
bright  and fresh. Contents Very Good to Near Fine; should be rebound.
