BATTY,  Captain.  FRENCH  SCENERY FROM DRAWINGS MADE  IN  1819  BY
CAPTAIN  BATTY OF THE GRENADIER GUARDS. London: Rodwell & Martin 1822.
First  Edition. Quarto (7-1/4" x 10-3/4") bound in half green  morocco
with  morocco  corners and marbled boards. Complete, illustrated  with
an  engraved  title page, an engraved full-page vignette, and 64  fine
steel  engravings  including 4 plans. Occasional spot of  foxing,  all
tissue  guards  present.  Old library bookplate  on  front  pastedown,
marked  withdrawn, and a small paper label on the spine: no stamps  or
markings  on  text  or plates. Hinges rubbed but  binding  strong  and
secure. Very Good with bright, clean plates.                   $750.00

CAPTAIN  BATTY OF THE GRENADIER GUARDS. London: Rodwell & Martin 1823.
First  Edition. Quarto (7-1/4" x 10-3/4") bound in half green  morocco
with  morocco  corners and marbled boards. Complete, illustrated  with
an  engraved  title page, an engraved full-page vignette, and 60  fine
steel  engraved views. A few plates with large spots of foxing  though
not  very  dark, all tissue guards present. Old library  bookplate  on
front  pastedown,  marked  withdrawn, and a small paper label  on  the
spine:  no stamps or markings on text or plates. A few pages with some
mild  nibbling  at  the  very top not affecting any  text  or  plates.
Hinges  rubbed  but  binding strong and secure. Very  Good  with  most
plates bright and clean.                                      $2000.00
