Pierre-Charles Levesque (1736-1812) was a student of Diderot's who
spent seven years in Russia and in 1782 produced perhaps the first
important history of Russia in French with extensive sections on
Russian literature. A classic work. Stamp of the Rosstrevor House
Library (Maj. Gen Robert Ross fought in the War of 1812). Spines a
bit worn at the extremities with a few small chips to a few volumes,
and two larger chips to the head of one and foot of another, two
raised bands lacking, all labels present, and gilt still bright,
boards and extremities rubbed, bindings tight, a few annotations in
pencil to the occassional page in volume one, overall a solid set and
quite presentable despite a few cosmetic flaws. [28246] $225.00
