*McGREEVY, Thomas. /T. E. ELIOT A Study/*. Bound in decorated pale
yellow and green paper over boards. Chatto & Windus, London. 1931. 1st
edition, small 8vo, pp. 71. A "Dolphin Books" title.

This is an interesting association copy. It is signed by Leon Edel, the
great Henry James scholar, on the front free endpaper, with the
notation, in his hand, "Paris 1930" (Edel would have been about 23). On
the rear pastedown is the distinctive bookseller's ticket of Sylvia
Beach's famous Shakespeare and Company, 12, rue de l'Odean, Paris. Thus,
it is reasonable to conclude that Edel purchased this book from Miss
Beach's establishment at about the time that James Joyce, Gertrude
Stein, T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, and other famous writers were
passing through. This copy is a bit worn at the board edges; else in
very good condition. The original "dolphin" dust jacket has not been
clipped, but it is chipped along the edges, with moderate wear at the
folds, and light soiling; else in good condition.
