ROGERS,HENRY D.   FIRST [SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH, FIFTH, SIXTH] ANNUAL 
REPORT OF THE STATE GEOLOGIST.   Harrisburg, 1836 - 1842.  The six 
reports in one volume, old rubbed half leather with marbled sides. An 
interesting provenance, with the heraldic bookplate of George Dawson 
Coleman, Penna. 19th century ironmaster and industrialist, with his 
signature on end paper and first title page, and with his short note 
on a rear blank referring to the Cornwall iron mine in Lebanon 
County.  3 folding charts.
(Pennsylvania's first major industry, which began in the 18th century 
with the exploitation of bog-iron. The furnaces in SE Penna. made 
possible the supplying of Washington's army with shot, &c.  Without 
them, who knows ?)
