Naples: Josephum Cacchium. 1571. Sm. 4to. ff.(6),97,(1). Early vellum, modern calf 
spine label. A nice wide margined copy. Some text soiling, and preliminary 
leaves with an old water stain at the blank outer margin.     $600.00 (trade

First edition (note below: there are 2 Naples 1571 printings). On the history 
of Naples and Genoa in the 16th century; the conspiracy of Gian Luigi Fieschi 
in Genoa (one of the earliest sources for Schiller’s      tragedy “Die 
Verschwoerung des Fiesco zu Genua”); the disturbances in Naples under Pedro de 
Toledo; and the assassination of Pietro Luigi Farnese, Duke of Parma in 1547.
