A nice early Derrydale on Bird Shooting-

“PTERYPLEGIA: Or, THE ART OF SHOOTING FLYING”

By George Markland, illustrated by Robert Ball.
Published by The Derrydale Press: 1931.
Edition limited to 500 copies.

“Pteryplegia: Or, The Art of Shooting Flying” was the first text on wing
shooting published in the English language when it first appeared in 1727,
several years after George Markland's untimely death at the age of just
44. Two subsequent editions followed in 1735 and 1767. Eugene Connett of
the Derrydale Press prepared this fourth edition and it is said to be his
favorite book of those he published.

The author presents his treatise as a humorous poem with a similarly
humorous preface. The pages are embellished with illustrations by Robert
Ball. Also included is an informative and enjoyable introduction by Col.
H.P. Sheldon.

As with all Derrydale Press editions, "Pteryplegia" is beautifully printed
