Originally issued in green illustrated card covers, now recently bound, 
/in toto/, retaining the original wraps, in a cloth hard cover binding, 
with gilt lettering to the spine. Illustrated by woodcuts /gravees par 
les meilleurs artistes/ (engraved by the best artists). Author's first 
name spelled on the title page as "Achile", which is probably a 
misprint, as "Achille" would be the normal and expected spelling. There 
is also extant an 1841 related work by /Achille/ Moreau, titled: 
/Nouveau me?morial de Sainte-He?le?ne: d'apre?s les relations 
authentiques anciennes et re?centes: journal complet de la translation, 
de la captivite, de la mort de l'empereur Napole?on: de ses obse?ques, 
de l'exhumation de ses restes mortels en 1840, de leur retour en Europe 
et de leur inauguration dans le Temple des Invalides/, so it is 
reasonable to conclude that the author's correct first name is Achille.

A very scarce item, no copies shown on WorldCat, or through the LOC, and 
no auction records found.

Contents show occasional light foxing, but are otherwise quite bright 
and unmarked, except for a former owner's name (M. E. Bassett, Bordeaux 
1931) written in red pencil on the side of the title page, and a small 
(25 cent piece size) circular rubber stamp, also on the title page.  The 
original front cover appears to have been glued to the frontispiece, and 
the glue has darkened portions of the margins of the latter. The boards 
are only very slightly soiled. Overall, this item is in good plus, to 
very good, condition. The text is in French.
