1.  ROTH, Henry. MERCY OF A RUDE STREAM. Volume 1: A Star Shines  Over
Mt.  Morris Park. New York: St. Martin's Press (1994). First  Edition.
This  title  is  the first of six volumes, all published  sixty  years
after  Roth's modern classic, CALL IT SLEEP, hailed by many critics as
one  of  the  best  novels  of the twentieth  century.  This  copy  is
INSCRIBED  and  SIGNED  by the author in his late, shaky hand  to  his
caregiver:  "To -------/With best wishes for a matchless/caregiver  to
whom  I  am deeply indebted./Henry Roth/Albq. Feb 20, 1994."  Fine  in

title  is  the second of six volumes, all published sixty years  after
Roth's  modern  classic, CALL IT SLEEP, hailed by many critics as  one
of  the  best novels of the twentieth century. This copy is  INSCRIBED
and  SIGNED  by  the author in his late, shaky hand to  his  caregiver
during  his final days in New Mexico: "To -------/With gratitude/Henry

First  Edition.  Title page drawing by Marc Hinkley. Copy #135 of  350
numbered  copies SIGNED by the author on the colophon page. This  slim
volume  is that author's second book coming 45 years after his  first,
the  classic  CALL  IT  SLEEP. Near Fine in  Near  Fine  plain  yellow
dustwrapper, a bit soiled.                                      $50.00
