L'EGLISE  DE L'UNITE DES FRERES CONNUS SOUS LE NOM DE FRERES DE BOHEME
&  DE MORAVIE, TIREE DE LEURS ACTES & TITRES AUTENTIQUES PAR UN AUTEUR

DOUCE,  OU  LE TOUT EST REPRESENTE AU NATUREL. Small octavo  (4-1/2" x
7")  bound  in very early marbled boards with a gilt red spine  label:
[2],  3-87, [1], 16 folding plates. First Edition in French, published
one  year  after  the First German Edition and usually  attributed  to
David  Crantz,  this  history  of the  Moravian  United  Brethren  was
published  not long after their establishment in America. The  sixteen
folding  plates  illustrate various customs and rites of the  Moravian
missionaries  including  an exorcism in the West Indies;  baptisms  in
the  West  Indies, Greenland, and America (Native Americans); and  the
Kiss  of  Peace  with  men on one side of the room and  women  on  the
other.  Sabin  7935. This book was published at an early  and  crucial
point  in  the history of the Moravian Church in America when  it  was
under  attack, along with its Indian converts, for treason during  the
French and Indian War. Title page slightly trimmed along right border;
minor  tears  in margins of some plates. Mild chipping to  spine  tips
but  binding  and contents firm. Near Fine example of a scarce  title.

THE    WHISKEY  INSURRECTION  IN   WESTERN   PENNSYLVANIA   1791-1794.
Harrisburg  [PA]: Clarence M. Busch 1896. First Edition.  Pennsylvania
Archives  (Second  Series), Volume IV. Octavo (6" x 9-3/4")  bound  in
contemporary  half red calf with calf corners and marbled boards;  688
pages.  Illustrated  with a large color folding map. Rubbed  and  worn
along  edges including spine edges and tips with some loss of leather;
covers  still  tight.  Internally  about Fine in  worn  covers,  still
holding.                                                       $150.00

3.  OCHSENFORD,  Rev. S. E. MUHLENBERG COLLEGE.  A  QUARTER-CENTENNIAL
MEMORIAL  VOLUME,  BEING A HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE AND A RECORD OF  ITS
MEN. Allentown, PA: Muhlenberg College 1892. First Edition. Octavo (5-
3/4"  x  8-7/8")  in  original   decorated  green  cloth;  584  pages.
Illustrated  with  several  plates,  primarily  portraits.  Near  Fine

LEBANON:  CONTAINING A BRIEF ACCOUNT OF THE INDIANS.... Lancaster, PA:
G.  Hills  1844.  First  Edition. Octavo (5-1/4" x  8-1/4")  bound  in
contemporary  speckled  calf with red morocco spine label; 519  pages.
Howes  R-512. Illustrated with three plates: the Reading Court  House,
a  view  of  Reading, and the Lebanon Post  Office.  Moderate  foxing,
occasionally   heavy  including  on   the  Lebanon  engraving.   Brief
genealogical  information on the bottom margin of the last page. Light
scuffing to covers but very solid. Very Good                   $250.00

5.  RUPP,  I[srael] Daniel. HISTORY OF LANCASTER COUNTY. TO  WHICH  IS
PREFIXED  A  BRIEF  SKETCH  OF  THE  EARLY  HISTORY  OF  PENNSYLVANIA.
Lancaster,  PA:  Gilbert  Hills  1844.  First  Edition.  Octavo  (5" x
8-1/4")  bound  in contemporary speckled calf with gilt-ruled  borders
and  a gilt-lettered black morocco spine label; 528 pages. With a list
of subscribers. Howes R-509. Illustrated with four lithographed views:
Lancaster  South  by  South  West, the Church  Parsonage  ant  Lititz,
Lancaster  Jail,  and  Columbia from Wrightsville. Also  includes  the
large  folding  Chart of Lancaster Township Distances, often  lacking.
Mild   to  heavy  foxing,  including   on  the  plates.
Contemporary  owner name and date on front endpaper. Mild scuffing  to
covers but very solid. Very Good                               $150.00
