BARNUM,  P.  T. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS). New  York:  27  May
1868.  A one-page letter recommending a former employee on a  4-1/2" x
7"  sheet of paper with Barnum's last name printed at the top to a Mr.
Wood:  "The best stage manager we had for years was Mr. Levich. He  is
very  industrious,  and  as I suppose you know, is a  good  actor.  He
knows  everything  appertaining to the stage and he is reliable  every
way,  for his habits are unexceptionable. I have had much trouble with
drinking  actors,  &  Mr. Levich is a noble exception in  that  line."
SIGNED  "P.  T. Barnum." Laid down on another sheet of paper.  Creases
