SHAW, Henry. SPECIMENS OF TILE PAVEMENTS DRAWN FROM EXISTING
AUTHORITIES. London: Basil M. Pickering 1858. Folio (10" x 12-3/4")
bound in twentieth century black buckram; [22] pages + 47 color
plates (3 double). A collection of 47 plates printed in color with
some hand-colored finishing, of the same high quality as other Shaw
works such as his classic DRESSES AND DECORATIONS OF THE MIDDLE AGES.
This title is quite scarce and depicts examples of medieval tile
pavements found at ruined Chertsey Abbey in Surrey and various other
sites. Apparently first published in 1852, though that edition seems
to have had fewer plates. This copy is from a public library and has
the usual markings though only the title and copyright pages bear any
stamps; the text and plates are clean and the binding is tight. Very
