Frederick Warne & Co. London 1903 First Edition First Issue. Publisher's 
gray paper-covered boards with a circular pictorial color paste-on of 
Squirrel Nutkin to the center of the front board. Illustrated throughout 
in color by Potter. This copy of an early Potter book is nicely 
INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author in the center blank portion of the 
pictorial front free endpaper: "For Norah,/with love from/Beatrix 
Potter./Sept. 2nd 1903." Expertly rebacked with most of the original 
spine laid down. Marginal stain to the very bottom of about half the 
pages. Very Good or better and quite scarce when signed by Potter.  $8500
