(4), 101, (1,1 blank) leaves, 8vo (205 x 150 mm), full brown 
19th century polished calf, dark brown title labels, back decorated 
gilt in panels, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, inner gilt dentelles,
binding by F. Bedford, general title page and 4 engraved title pages 
dated 1590, 1595, 1596 & 1604, all within elaborately decorated borders,
the engraved title page for Centuria Una in inscribed with Hans 
Sibmacher's initials in monogram, 400 finely engraved circular 
emblems of plants, herbs, animals, birds, insects, fishes and reptiles,
all by Sibmacher, a few have brief notes in and old hand in the margins. 
A very good copy.

was one of the first books to contain illustrations of plants on intaglio plates.
