translation.  Octavos, original gold-stamped cloth, top edges gilt, 
one rear joint weak, otherwise a very good set.  INSCRIBED by Norton 
in volume one: "Eliot Norton with his father's love.  10 Oct. 1891," 
(the Dedication is dated 1. Oct. 1891.) (Norton had a wide 
acquaintance in the literary world here and abroad, and was for long
