      In addition to a facsimile reproduction of the original edition of 
"Survey of the Roads of the United States of America," Ristow provides a 
fascinating biography of Colles and this ambitious project to map the roads 
between Albany, New York and Yorktown, Virginia in 1789. Also includes a 
Colles bibliography and an inventory of the few extant copies of the work. 
Fold-out map at rear is pristine and is indexed to the Survey. America's 
earliest road guide provides an essential reference to this period in 
American history. Reprint of HOWES #C584; SABIN #14411, etc. Bound in dark 
gray cloth over boards with spine titled in gilt. Touch of faint foxing to 
top edge of textblock, a few minor extremity rubs.    $50.00
