Small quarto. 75pp. Original gilt stamped green cloth, Near Fine; retaining
most of the original mylar wrapper issued with the book (now with some large
closed tears and some pieces folded); in a worn slipcase. Printed on English
hand-made paper, one of 350 numbered copies, signed by Eliot. Additionally,
laid in to this copy is an approximately 150-word typed letter, signed, from
Eliot to Professor John U. Nef at the University of Chicago, dated 12
February 1948. In it, Eliot politely declines Nef's invitation to Chicago
(citing his autumn obligations at Princeton) but encourages Nef to consider
the possibility of doing something in the autumn of 1949. On Faber & Faber
letterhead, and signed by Eliot in blue ink (small smudge in the "o")
