New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1938. First printing, Original cloth,
Octavo, [vi], 428 pages, Decorations by Edward Shenton. Fine in a Fine Dust
Jacket, Jacket in Mylar protector.
First edition of the best-known of Rawlings' novels, set in the
hammock country of inland Florida. Bound in off-white cloth over boards with
spine and upper board stamped in dark green, teal topstain, tan endpapers.
Shallow bumps to cloth edges at spine ends, creases of both joints slightly
browned. Jacket shows some very minor surface wear and a few shallow edge
wrinkles. Jacket price of $2.50 remains intact. Lovely copy, free of prior
ownership marks. Binding is strong and straight. $300.00
