(40),cccccxii,(8)pp. Title printed in red & black with a large woodcut illustration, 
text illustrated with 51 woodcuts by Michael Ostendorfer; most pages have 
ornate woodcut borders. Old calf spine, gilt, over boards (circa 1825). Some old 
soiling to title and text, some old faded water staining. Text with a number of 
early annotations.     $3,750.00 (trade discount allowed)
A famous illustrated book, beautifully printed by the astronomer and 
geographer Apianus (1495-1552) professor of mathematics in Ingolstadt. The text 
studies early Latin inscriptions found on monuments and tombs and is based on items 
in the private collection of Raymund Fugger, who commissioned this book. Adams
