Letorey, A., et al. "PREMIERE EXPOSITION 1881. TENTURES ARTISTIQUES.
Palais de l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Catalogue Illustre"  Paris; Ateliers de
Reproductions Artistiques: 1881. The catalog to an exhibition of modern
tapestries after designs by contemporary artists, mostly of wool but some
of silk. It being 1881 France, and l’Ecole des Beaux Arts, there are a
great number of woodsy scenes, exotics, apparent literary allusions, and
some partially clothed women. In addition to the listings of the
tapestries being exhibited, there are many quotes from artists and
decorators praising the use of tapestries, and a short introduction by A.
Letorey, an architecte decorateur explaining the production and decorative
uses of these tapestries. Uncommon- OCLC locates 4 copies. Softcover.
6.5”x10”, 124 pages, plus 25 phototyped plates, 2 of which are double-page
plates; publisher’s paper covers, covers with some wear and soil, tips
creased, etc.; internally nice and partially unopened. [30604] $200.00
