ii + 312 + viii pp. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the verso 
of the title page " Presented to His Excellency the Right 
Honourable  Thomas David Gibson Baron Carmichael of Stirling, G.C.I.E., 
K.C.M.G. with profound Reverence by Aswini Kumar Dutt". Thomas David Gibson 
[1859-1926], Knight Commander of  the Order of St. Michael and St. George, 
Knight Grand Commander of the Order of the Indian Empire and later Knight 
Grand Commander of the Order of the Star of India, Governor of Madras 
1911-1912. Governor of Bengal 1912-1917. A very good copy, the binding 
lightly worn at the edges.
