There is another varied mixture of offerings in Auction Explorer Books current sale.
Especially notable among the 425 lots are some exciting modern first editions. A copy
of J.R.R.Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring, 1954, has been listed by Graham York
Rare Books of Honiton, Devon, and immediately attracted an opening bid at its reserve
of $5,000. Gandolph's Books of Johannesburg is offering an early issue of John
Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, 1939, while Clarke's Africana & Rare books,
Cape Town, has entered a first UK edition of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
For the devotees of John Fowles there is a copy of The Collector, London
1963. Another in which there was early interest.

Among other categories represented are bibliography with a copy of James
Cook's Bibliography of the Writings of Charles Dickens, Krank Kerslake, London,
1879, being listed by David Holmes, Hamilton, New York. This copy bears a
presentation inscription to Dickens' son. The art world is represented by a
number of lots including a copy of the signed limited edition of Russell Flint's
In Pursuit:An Autobiography which has been entered by Ariel Books, Auckland,
New Zealand. Added to these items is a varied selection of travel and
military works. These include a copy of the signed limited edition of Stanley's
 In Darkest Africa.

For those who would like to find out more about this auction site there is
an excellent critique and review available in the "In the Media" section.
Louise Ellis-Barret published an article in 'The Charleston Advisor' in
October, 2006, that makes excellent reading. There is no doubt that
knowledge of this international website is growing as is the use of it
being made by the book trade and collectors alike.

Regards,

Paul Mills
