BASEBALL / A Documentary History in Chronological Presentation from the
personal collection of Norman Kane (a fan for over 75 years)
(with a very few additions) Norman Kane attended his first game in 1932. He
began to read about baseball in the pulps of the 1940s. He
bought them, in order to read them. He has been an antiquarian bookseller
for more than 50 years, a member of ABAA. He did not sell
his baseball collection until his retirement.

Baseball in Minnesota.

1904 SOUVENIR / YOUNG AMERICA BASEBALL ASSOCIATION. Season
1904. 7 ½ x 9 ¾”. Printed gray-green wrappers, two-hole binding, tied
with multi-colored twine, 17 leaves, calendared paper, unpaged, first leaf
blank. Nice copy. First edition. 16 members, 10 officers, including their
own official umpire, Herman Klobe was “Captian”, with photo of twelve.
However, only 3 of the persons in the photo are members, and only 4 of the
officers are in the photo, so many of the players were not members of the
Young America Baseball Association. J. W. Truwe was player-manager. They
played 23 games: 15-7 + 1 tie.

Statistics for 21 players are recorded, as are the box scores for 22 games,
vs: Assumption, Waconia (2), Boston Bloomers, Carver (2), Clarkin Bros (St.
Paul); Foley Bros. & Kelly; Glencoe (3) Hutchinson (2); Chaska; Edwards,
Woods & Co. (St. Paul); Winthrop; Matt. Hansen’s; Gaylord; Cortland’s (of
St. Paul).

Crow River Valley, MN, amateur league baseball, still going,
as the Young America Cardinals. $350.00
