HOTEL CROOK

"B. S. Dunbar, Night Clerk of Hotel Bentley, Alexandria, Louisiana,
absconded on the morning of Thursday, March third
Taking with him, cash on hand in his cash drawer, together with the number
of envelopes of money left by guests of the house
the night previous, all amounting to between Five and Six Hundred Dollars.
Dunbar is about 38 to 40 years of age. Dark com-
plected. Height about five feet, five inches. Weight about 150 pounds.
Right eye is out, and wears a glass eye, left eye
blue. Has a stub moustache with a little gray. Hair black with few streaks
of gray. Has at times played amateur base ball and fingers show it. Dresses
in a dark striped sack suit with black derby hat. Nose short and pug. Walks
slight- ly stopped and may possibly limp a little.
He left Alexandria at 7:30 Thursday morning on the Lou- isiana & Arkansas
Railroad. Purchased ticket for Shreveport, But got off train at Stamps,
Ark., and there we find that he took Cotton Belt for Memphis. Have no
further trace. I be-lieve that he is headed for New York City. A few years
ago he held a position in one of the New York Hotels. Have forgotten Which
one, but think it was either the Empire or the Imperial.
Also claims to have worked for Major Laughlin in Denver a few years ago.
Has evidently been all over the country. When I employed him, Nov.
twenty-sixth, he came from New Or-leans and at that time gave me his New
Orleans address at. No. 1204 St. Charles St. He writes an exceptionally
good hand. Will give a reward of $50.00 for his arrest. If apprehended,
notify nearest office of the Thiel Detective Service Co., or wire / J. F.
LETTON, Manager Hotel Bentley, Alexandria, La." $150.00
