Dear Biblians;

Today – my first time on this listserv, I will like to offer:

The Will James Cowboy Book, edited by Alice Dalgliesh, published by Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1938. 1st and only edition;  Color frontispiece with text illustrations; orange cloth cover with black lettering and a scene of a cowboy lassoing a horse, 8vo, numerous ink drawings of cowboy life throughout; 158 pp.; no dust jacket issued.

Book purchase from the estate of a daughter whose mother was a teacher from the Texas Public School District; Will James wrote this book just for the school district as a supplementary reader and 1200 copies were printed with the intent to be adopted by the school district but it was turned down.  Because of this disappointed, Will James would not allow any more to be printed.  The editor, Alice Dalgliesh is also a well-known author in her own right.

Book Condition: VGood Book; minor scuffing along edges, front cover has light stain spots on front edges; spine edges and corners are a little rubbed; inside top front end page has the remains of past down that was part of the school district or publisher’s label; otherwise the end pages are decorated with a letter and drawing from Will James to the boys and girls and continues to the back end page.  Both end pages have a little browning due to age. No writing or other marks.

Offered to the list for $500 postpaid and insured. (Past auction records shows only one copy has been sold recently - PBA Galleries for $750) Photos available.

Thank you-
