An auction sale at Thomas Kirby's American Art Association, featuring
material gathered by Bunkio Matsuki, the Japanese monk/dealer who, working
with Edward Morse, helped popularize Japanese arts in America in the last
decades of the 19th century. This catalog includes material he claimed to
have purchased from some of Japan's leading daimyo families, as well as
blades and other objects purchased with the help of Choga Imamura,
director of the military museum at Tokyo.

Softcover. 6.25"x8.5", about 80 pages, 502 lots, 16 b/w plates; pictorial
covers; light soil, slight spotting to some of the plates, a little
overall wear, but a very nice copy.  [30587]  $150.00
