Quarto. Illustrated with 20 tipped-in photogravure plates from photographs
by Adelaide Hanscom Leeson; woodcut head & tailpieces & initials. Brown
clothe lettered and decorated in gilt. Top edge gilt. Embossed checker
design to front board and spine. Near Fine. 

Lesson was a member of the Photo-secessionist Movement which promoted
photography as a fine art and she illustrated a 1905 publication of The
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam which was one of the first American books to use
photography for fine art illustrations. She moved to Seattle after the SF
earthquake and designed the logo for the 1909 Alaska Yukon Exposition. This
copy is inscribed by Leeson in 1917. Scarce. Images available upon request
