With twenty-two engravings from drawings by William Daniell, R.A. London &
Philadelphia: Charles Tilt and Desilver, Thomas and Co, 1837. First
printing. Octavo. x, 240pp, ads. Complete with the engravings by Daniell as
called for. Original full morocco binding, covers stamped with serpent and
elephant illustrations in blind and gilt; spine stamped in gilt with a camel
and palm tree; all edges gilt. Text block rather loose with several
signatures sprung, front hinge cracked after front free endpaper, and the
final two pages lacking the bottom quarter (with some loss to one page of
ads). Minor staining to a few plates; a Good copy. // Aims, in the words of
the author, to 'instruct more than amuse' the reader on the Mohammedan
history of India, and does so primarily through the history of the Moghul
emperors Timur Beg and Sultan Baber.  (39640)	$150.00
