lettered in gilt, excellent copy. Old eroded label at corner of end
paper, partly covered with a later Parisian bookseller's
label. Frontispiece and 2 plates. Xxii, 90,112; [2], [91]-132, 80
pages. Ballistician Bashforth, 1819-1912, Prof. of Applied Math at
Woolwich, conducted & reported on a series of important ballistic
experiments 1864-80 & invented the chronograph (pictured in the
frontispiece) used to determine the air-resistance to projectiles (see DNB).
