Shrubsole, W.G. "ETCHING: ITS PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE. A BOOK FOR STUDENTS
AND AMATEURS"

London; George Rowney & Co.: no date [c.1880].

Shrubsole, a member of the Cambrian Academy and the Manchester Academy of
Arts, gives detailed technical and practical instructions for the aspiring
etcher. The book includes 2 etched plates by Shrubsole, the first a
completed landscape, signed in plate, as the frontispiece and another
showing two different states of a plate.

Uncommon in the marketplace, and notable for having original etchings.

Softcover. 4.75”x7”, 68 pages with text illustrations and 2 etched plates,
plus 20 pages of illustrated advertisements for art supplies. Publisher’s
yellow glazed card covers; covers a bit soiled, somewhat worn, spine
lightly chipped. [30762] $100.00
