Stories from the Arabian Nights, retold by Laurence Housman. Illustrated by
Edmund Dulac. NY: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1907. First US edition.
Hardcover, 9-3/4 x 7-1/2 inches, terra cotta cloth with gold and black
titles and decorations. 133 pages, plus 50 color plates by Edmund Dulac, one
tipped onto on gray card as a frontis, the rest on tipped onto gray card in
a section at the back of the book. All tissue guards are in place, none
torn. The book has minor rubs to corners, dusty text block edges, and a tiny
crimp to lower right corner. The half-title page has been reinserted with
cloth library tape on both sides (one attaching to front free endpaper, one
attached to recto (unused) side of frontis. Mull is exposed between frontis
and title page but the joint is strong. Aside from these repairs and light
toning to page edges, the book is in very good condition, with cover color
bright and solid (scan may show some moiré effect) and gilt and decorations
