drawing. Obl. Folio (34 x 39 cm). Three quarter morocco over cloth
boards. First edition.
Gift to the Illinois Commandery by Capt. Horatio L. Wait, member of
the Illinois naval militia, who served in the Civil War Navy
blockading vessels outside Mobile harbor, and was later a Fleet
Judge Advocate. A design manual for the construction of various sizes
of steam cutters, launches, cutters, whaleboats, gig whaleboats,
barges, dinghies, balsa boats and punts. Boards detached and worn at
the corners, spine scuffed with remnant of label, bookplate of
Illinois Commandery of M.O.L.L.U.S. library on front pastedown, some
finger soiling to the front blanks otherwise contents near fine.
