Edition. Quarto (8-1/2" x 11"); illustrated with photographs. Fine
Association Copy SIGNED by the President on a bookplate with a
printed presentation "To Morris K. Udall with my best wishes
Christmas 1967." Mo Udall, who played one year of professional
basketball with the Denver Nuggets, served as a U. S. Representative
from Arizona from 1961 to 1991. His brother Stewart Udall was
Kennedy's Secretary of the Interior. A Mormon, Mo Udall was known for
his championship of environmentalist causes and his devotion to
campaign finance reform and the welfare of Native Americans. In 1976,
he ran for the Democratic nomination for President losing to Jimmy
Carter by 1% in the Wisconsin Primary and finishing a distant second
place to Carter at the Democratic National Convention. In 1996, Udall
received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Clinton. He
died in 1998 as a result of complications from Parkinson's disease.
