We have a lot of 8 items on various aspects of early American books and
printing, offered as a lot for $100.00, ppd in the US.

Glaser, Lynn.  "AMERICA ON PAPER. THE FIRST HUNDRED YEARS"  Philadelphia;
Associated Antiquaries: 1989. A collection of essays on 16th century
books, maps & prints illustrating and discussing the New World. Topics
include the natives, natural history, exploration and colonization.
Hardcover. 8.5”x11”, 252 pages, b/w illustrations, dj; light wear, but a
nice copy.

Jenkins, John H. "A FULL HOWES. A CATALOGUE OF BOOKS AND PAMPHLETS LISTED
IN WRIGHT HOWES' U.S.iana" Austin; The Jenkins Company: 1981. A very
useful reference work- legendary Texas bookseller John Jenkins not only
assembled and cataloged for sale almost 3,000 titles listed in Wright
Howes famous ‘USiana’ bibliography, he also provides 3 pages of
corrections to Howes’ listings, and a very useful ‘Chronological Finding
List for U.S. Government Documents in Howes’. Softcover. 8.5”x11”, about
300+ pages; 2,953 items listed; some wear and soil, tips thumbed; a used
but not abused copy.

Liebert, Herman W., et al. THE BRITISH LOOK AT AMERICA DURING THE AGE OF
SAMUEL JOHNSON" Providence; The Associates of the John Carter Brown
Library: 1971. An exhibition of the sorts of books and pamphlets related
to America, published between 1720 and 1784, such as “an ordinary
cultivated Englishman” would have bought. The essay examines Johnson’s
attitude toward America. Softcover. 7.5”x10.5”, 655 pages plus 15 b/w
plates. Elegantly printed at the Stinehour Press; light soil, tips
thumbed, etc.

"SOME EARLY MASSACHUSETTS BROADSIDES. A Massachusetts Historical Society
Picture Book" Boston: 1964. A selection ranging from the mid 17th
century to the Declaration of Independence. Softcover. 8.5”x11”, 2 pages
of text plus 29 b/w plates; light soil, a little wear.

"FROM COLUMBUS TO LINCOLN. FIFTY DISTINGUISHED AMERICANA" New York; H.P.
Krause: (1960?) Catalog 92. A decent enough catalog, I suppose, if one is
into flashy stuff like Columbus’s printed letter announcing that he
discovered America, his brother’s handwritten account of Columbus’s fourth
voyage, a copy of the Bill of Rights printed for Thomas Jefferson- you
know, kind of sexy, good beat, I’ll bet somebody could dance to it. The
Krause cataloging of this material is up to their usual standards-
thorough, scholarly, detailed (is that different from ‘thorough’?) and not
overly laudatory, while keeping in mind that most of this stuff is the
sort of thing your average Americana collector would strip nude and
sacrifice most assorted parts of his anatomy to a Vegomatic for.
Softcover. 7”x10”, 69 pages, b/w illustrations and plates. Light wear.

Winterich, John T. "EARLY AMERICAN BOOKS & PRINTING" New York; Dover
Publications: 1981. A republication of the classic 1935 book. Softcover.
5.5”x8.5”, 252 pages, b/w illustrations; light wrinkle along the bottom
edge.

Lehmann-Haupt, Hellmut [ed.]. "PROSPECTUS FOR 'BOOKBINDING IN AMERICA' "
Portland; Southworth-Anthoensen Press: 1941. The Prospectus folder for
the classic book “Bookbinding in America, edited by Hellmut Lehmann-Haupt
and featuring essays by Hannah Dustine French, Joseph W. Rogers and
Lehmann-Haupt. This prospectus folder includes a description of the book,
list of the table of contents, and an advertisement for Wroth’s ‘The
Colonial Printer’. Folder. 6.25”x9.25”, 7 pages, 1 b/w plate laid in
loosely. Light soil, light water stain, very light staple marks.

"THE BOOKBINDER IN EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY WILLIAMSBURG" Colonial
Williamsburg: 1978. ”An account of his life & times & of his craft”.
Illustrated with some nice period copper engravings. From the
Williamsburg Craft series. Softcover. 6”x9”, 32 pages, b/w
illustrations; light soil.

The 8 items, offered as a lot for $100.00, ppd in the US.
