This is the first printing, with the misspelled "latch" in the 
"Crosspatch" poem. It is signed and inscribed by the artist on the 
half-title page: "To the President's Daughter from Willy Pogany / 1928". 
There is no indication as to the identity of the "President's Daughter". 
There is a very slight smudge (fingerprint?) to the blank right margin 
of the half-title page. This page is also creased about one inch from 
the gutter, perhaps done when Pogany pressed it flat to inscribe the 
book. Otherwise, internally the book is in exceptionally clean, 
unmarked, condition. There are one, or two, faint smudges to the foredge 
of the text block. The top edge gilt is not flaked or soiled. The hinges 
are tight, and the "alphabet" endpapers are not split and are free from 
previous owner's markings. The gilt lettering and designs to to the 
front board are bright and crisp. The blue cloth shows light scuffing 
(more so to the plain rear board), and a few, fairly faint, small 
smudges. The spine has a touch, or two, of smudging but it is not 
untoward. There is light rubbing to the tips and spine ends of the 
boards. Overall, a most attractive copy, in very good condition, and 
with an interesting and provocative inscription.
