Greetings Booklovers,

We are pleased to offer:
~
(No. 9072 ) Mahan, A[lfred]. T[hayer]. (1840-1914). THE INFLUENCE OF SEA
POWER UPON HISTORY, 1660-1783.
London: sampson low, Marston & Company, Limited, (1892). Full leather,
Octavo, xxiv, 557 pages, Maps, battle plans. Very Good.
Mahan's classic argument that control of the seas was the decisive
factor in modern warfare. His work was widely read internationally,
particularly in Germany, and fueled naval buildup around the world on the
eve of World War I. Illustrated with several battle plans and maps,
including one fold-out. See HATTENDORF, #A2d. Bound in dark brown calf over
boards with raised bands and gilt titles on spine, gilt dentelles, marbled
endpapers, all edges colored. Spine ends have some shallow chips and rubs,
spine bands, fore corners, and joints are mildly rubbed and worn. Top 2
inches of both joints beginning to split but boards remain securely
attached. Some light foxing scattered inside. $100.00
