1884; this is the first facsimile reprint (of the 2nd Dublin edition,
1884).
A scarce title, even in the facsimile edition. Relates the founding of
the city of Dublin by the Norsemen. By the middle of the ninth century
Dublin became an important seaport and trading centre to the Viking
world. Haliday's work remains today the most comprehensive study on the
social and political history, the archaeology and topography, of
Scandinavian Dublin. Pagination: ix, cxxiii, 300; with seven folding
plates and maps. In the publisher's dust jacket (not clipped), showing
light chipping and rubbing to folds, with some light general soiling;
else in good plus condition. The book has a few very slight blemishes to
the cloth, and the binding is very slightly shaken; else clean, tight,
and in very good condition.
