(6),170pp. Index. Double column text. Plus 68 hand-colored plates illustrating 800 
species. Orig. boards, uncut, with paper spine label, lightly soiled, extremities 
a bit chipped. Housed in a handsome custom made slipcase; gilt decorated & 
blind tooled morocco, black morocco label, over marbled boards. Occasional light 
foxing. The first plate only with some light offset browning from the facing 
errata leaf.     $1,250.00 (trade discount allowed)
This monograph on shells was part of a series of natural history studies by 
Reichenbach, published 1829-1845. See BM Natural History, Vol. VIII p. 1060. 
Copies were sold colored and uncolored. The colored version at 3 times the price 
of the uncolored (noted on the title-page) is quite uncommon.
