JOHN BROWN'S CONCORDANCE, &c, &c,
&c.  Philadelphia: Printed by John Adams & Wm. Babcock for Mathew 
Carey, Nov. 7th, 1803.  Very good complete copy in old (original?) 
full calf, joints professionally strengthened, approx. 11 X 9 X 3 1/2 
inches, [4], 1080, 72 pages.  30 maps and plates, as listed, (the 
frontispiece is a folding map showing the wanderings of the children 
of Israel.)  Hills, "English Bible in America, #102.  OCLC locates 
only 3 copies, (one of which
lacks the title page, &c.)  New Testament title page reads, "Third 
Philadelphia Edition."  The printer's imprint at the end of the N.T. 
reads: "T. S. Manning, Printer, No. 143 N. Third St., 
Philadelphia."  There is a separate title page for the 
Concordance.  George Emlen's copy (1741-1812 ?), with his signature 
opposite the family records on the ownership page.  (The Emlens were 
a prosperous Philadelphia Quaker family that became wealthy in the 
brewing business. A few of the records refer to the Fox family.)  A 
much better copy than usual of this early American Bible by a famous 
Phila.printer/publisher.
