COPELAND, ROBERT MORRIS.   COUNTRY LIFE: A HANDBOOK OF AGRICULTURE, 
HORTICULTURE, & LANDSCAPE GARDENING.  FIFTH EDITION, 
REVISED.   Boston: Dinsmoor & Co., 1866.  Large thick octavo, 
original cloth stamped in gold & blind, spine a little worn, back 
cover partly faded, 3-inch repair to gutter of end paper, but a very 
good, sound copy.  Over 900 pages.  Double-page tinted frontispiece, 
("A plan for laying out a country place of 60 acres"), 8 plates and 
many, many text-illustrations, some full-page.
Small Library of Congress bookplate & stamp on title verso, "gift, 
estate of Wm. C. Rives."  Also with the small book label, "W. C. 
Rives."  (Prominent Charlottesville family, the most notable being 
Wm. Cabell Rives, 1793-1868,
US Congressman & Senator, Confederate Congressman, diplomat, &c.  The 
family seat was "Castle Hill" near
