New York: Century Co., 1912. First printing, Original cloth, Octavo, [xii], 387 pages, Facsimiles. Very good.
      Written by the daughter of Lincoln's private secretary, largely from personal notes and material not included in the Nicolay and Hay biography of Lincoln. Authoritative source on matters such as Lincoln's anecdotes, his attitudes toward money, his relations with his wife and children, his abilities as a writer, his moral fiber, and much more. Illustrated with facsimiles of documents and Lincoln manuscript items. MONAGHAN #2049; ANGLE, SOLB pp. 106-108. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with spine and upper board stamped in gilt, fore and bottom edges rough cut, top edge gilt. Early prior owner inscription in pencil on front free endpaper. A clipped portrait of Lincoln and a small presentation card from a "Miss Emma Fountain" are laid in. Binding shows a few mild extremity rubs, gilt is rubbed in a few places. Hinges and binding remain sound.    $75.00
