Greetings Booklovers,

We are pleased to offer:
~
(No. 5763 ) Brewington, M[arion]. V[ernon]. and Dorothy Brewington. MARINE
PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS IN THE PEABODY MUSEUM (REVISED EDITION).
Salem: Peabody Museum of Salem, 1981 (1968). Limited edition, Full cloth,
Quarto, xviii, 535 pages, color and black and white plates. Very Good in a
Very Good Dust Jacket, Jacket in Mylar protector.
One of 1, 600 copies in this corrected second edition, cataloging
every marine picture received by the museum between 1799 and 1966. Most
major marine artists are represented, as well as nearly every type of
sailing craft and steamship. This revised edition retains the format and
presentation of the original edition, but corrects certain errors,
omissions, and incorrect attributions. Where they occur these are denoted by
an asterisk next to the entry, and there is a complete list of changes from
the first edition included at rear. Truly an outstanding collection. Bound
in green cloth over boards with gilt stamped spine lettering. A few minor
extremity rubs, slight foxing to top edge of textblock. Jacket has a few
shallow edge wrinkles, a closed 1 cm tear at top edge of front panel, and a
narrow band of slight sun fading along top and fore edge of front panel.
$100.00
