This memoir purports to be the translated extracts of a journal kept by
Velasquez who accompanied Hertis and Hammond, the promoters of the expedition.
Iximaya is claimed to be the Indian City referred to by John L. Stephens in his “
Incidents and Travel in Central America,” New York: 1841.
