worn and rubbed, generally a very good clean

Gottseligen und Hocherleuchteten Deutschen 
Theosophi Jacob Bohmens,  edited by Johann Georg

1730. This is considered the definitive edition, 
Ueberfeld at that time being in possession of B 
oehme's original manuscripts. This copy is from 
the library of mystical philosopher Charles 
Muses, founder of the Jacob Boehme Society, 
although it unusually has no ownership marks or notes by him. Rare.  $450.00

[Ueberfeld]. 1730.  Small octavo [168 x 100 mm], 
contemporary full calf small device in blind (of 
a lamb, a banner and a blazing sun) on front & 
rear panels, the spine with raised bands and with 
gilt title label. 896 pp, folding frontispiece 
engraving. The front free e ndpaper (recto and 
verso ) and the blank sides of the folding plate 
(4 leaves total) have extensive ink notes in an 
antique hand describing the meaning of the 
emblematic frontispiece, there is some bleeding 
of the ink through to the printed side of the 
engraving. There is also a contemporary signature 
in ink on the front paste-down. Slight worming to 
upper corner of the inner margin of the first few 
leaves (not affecting the text or plate in any 
way), related small loss to leather at top edge 
of front hinge. Spine leather cracking and gilt 
on title label mostly effaced. Very good clean 
copy.  Although not mentioned anywhere, this was 
issued as Volume XVII of THEOSOPHIA REVELATA, Das 
ist: Alle Göttliche Schriften des Gottseligen und 
Hoche rleuchteten Deutschen Theosophi Jacob 
Bohmens, edited by Johann Georg Gichtel and 
Johann Wilhelm Ueberfeld, Amsterdam, 1730. This 
is considered the definitive edition, Ueberfeld 
at that time being in possession of Boehme's 
original manuscripts. The last and most important 
work of the 17th Century mystic, this is a 
wide-ranging interpretation of the Book of 
Genesis that touches also on the message of the 
New Testament and the nature of mystical 
experience. This copy is from the library of 
mysti cal philosopher Charles Muses, founder of 
the Jacob Boehme Society, and has some small 
pencil marks to the text and a few pencil- or ink 
- marks to the margins, as well as short notes by 
him on the rear endpaper (i.e., "270-275, 287 
Boehme's greates t prophecy") as well as  a 
strange mystical & mathematical sequence in ink 
in the lower margin of the

by Albert de Luynes which bears the same date and 
title as the work by Barges but is altogether a 
different work. Three works bound togeth er, 
contemporary marbled boards with leather spine 
panel, gilt titles. There are old, contemporary 
notes in German on the endpapers. Overall, a very 
good copy. All three items are rare. $350.00

Volume 7 of Gichtel's great work THEOSOPHICA 
PRACTICA, edited by Johann Wilh elm Ueberfeld and 
published posthumously. An  important mystical 
text: Gichtel was a disciple of Boehme and 
heavily influenced by him, he edited the first 
collected works of Boehme in 1682. Gichtel did 
have specific religious views which he arrived at 
independently of Boehme, he attracted a small 
group of followers known as Gichtellians or 
Brethren of the Angels. From the library of

colla ted complete. Needs rebacking or rebinding, 
but internally very clean, the binding with 
obvious wear and use but the cloth only slightly 
dust-soiled. Very good, all things considered. ¶ 
The revised edition of 1838 appears on the 
market, the first edition of 1832 is rare.  $550.00

copy in an attractive and neatly done (and

1879.  Fifth Abridged Edition. Two Volumes, 
octavo, bound in contemporary tree calf with 
decorative gilt borders, the spine with raised 
bands and decorated gilt within compartments, 
gilt title labels, all edges marbled, marbled 
endpapers. A handsomely boun d set with some very 
minor stains and light wear to the edges of the 
spine panels. Accompanying this set is an 
original autograph letter signed by Kingsley 
dated Cambridge, December 4, 1860, 3 pages, 
signed "Kingsley". To the editor of a magazine, a 
ddressed as "Dear Sir, Your Periodical is 
excellent...". The letter is difficult to read 
due to Kingsley's curious handwriting.  Charles 
Kingsley (1819-1875), author of Alton Locke 
(1850), Hypatia (1853), Westward Ho! (1855), The 
Heroes (1856), Here ward the Wake (1866), and 
most famously, THE WATER BABIES (1863), a classic 
novel and one of the most well-loved Children's books of all time. $450.00

Douxieme Partie, LES ENFANTS DE KHAEMHOR, 
Chapitre Deuxieme. 13 folio pages. Handwritten in 
French and Hieroglyphic, in ink with some 
corrections in pencil. Stamped on t wo leaves 
"Imprimerie Bertrand / Chaion-sur-saon / 9 Juil 
1910". Accompanied by what appears to be a proof 
printing of the article, 8 pp printed on rectos 
only, 33 x 25 cm.There is a stamp on the first 
leaf dated 30 Nov 1911, the rest of the stamp i s 
faded. The manuscript is folded else in near fine 
condition; the proof  is in loose sheets, 
stringbound, and one edge of the top leaf has 2 
ragged tears, each about 5 cm long. A 
genealogical work pertaining to the family of 
Khaemhor, a vizier of t he 24th Dynasty. Legrain 
was a member of the French Institute in Cairo 
between 1892 and 1894.  He became the 
Inspecteur-dessinateur of the Service des 
Antiquites in 1894. In 1895, he undertook 
conservation work at the temple of  Karnak. He is 
best known for his work there, which involved the 
discovery of the Karnak Hoard, 800 fine objects - 
statures of all periods- hidden in the Hypostyle 
Hall of the temple of Amun-Re in 1904. $1250.00

offprint by de L uynes entitled "Sur le 
Sarcophage d'un Roi de Sidon, Decouvert pres de 
Sayda, lu dans la seance publique des cinq 
Academies, le 14 aout 1855". The imprint is Didot 
Freres / Institute Imperial de France. 1855. 15 
pp. Mild repairs and new rebacking to  the book, 
thus very good, the offprint is fine. An uncommon set.  $350.00

is unnumbered. Facsimile reproduction of the 
"Codex Kingsborough", a 16th century Mesoamerican 
pictorial manuscript, detailing the history of 
Tepetlaoztoc and th e abuse of the encomenderos 
who took control after the Spanish conquest of 
Mexico. The facsimile is numbered in manuscript: 
208, 210, 215, 218-229, 231-235, 238, 239, 241, 
242, 248, 250, 253, 255, 257-268, 270, 272, 274, 
276-281 leaves. Outer wrappe rs frayed and torn 
at edges, else generally very good and complete.

ates, one of which is folding. From the library 
of mystical philosopher Charles Muses, with some 
internal marks and notes in his hand. Obviously, 
a bind-up of various papers, in a presentation 
binding and gifted by Revillout to his wife.

1803.  First edition, Quarto, 154 pp., bound in 
19th century calf and marbled boards, the spine 
heavily chipped and the front board loose, a nice 
clean copy internally with wide margins. An 
important work, the first part mainly statistical 
and pertaining t o the self-sufficiency of the 
British Fisheries, the second part depicting 
Napoleon Bonaparte's plans to invade the British 
Isles, with descriptions of his ships, troops 
massed, etc. The Invasion was carried out, of 
course, and culminated in the bat tle of 
Trafalgar in 1805, when France was defeated by 
the British Navy under the command of Admiral 
Nelson. Very uncommon.Note: The full title reads: 
PLAN OF NATIONAL IMPROVEMENT, Pointing out the 
means to render Great Britain independent of 
supplie s of corn from abroad, to extend the 
BRITISH FISHERIES, and augment the MILITARY and
