cloth (circa 1960?). xviii + 401 pp + [2] pp 
publisher's advertisements for WORKS RELATING TO 
INDIA, Maps, Atlases, &c; Appendix of the Deities 
and Terms, 39 full-page lithographed plates of 
the dieties, avatars, etc. Minor browning to the 
plates, small tear to inner margin of the second 
leaf of text; an excellent copy, with the 
ownership stamp of the Long Island Historical 
Society on the title leaf. ¶ Sometimes 
incorrectly catalogued as having 40 plates, the 
work is complete with the frontispiece and 38 
plates in the text numbered 2-39, as called for 
in the INSTRUCTIONS TO THE BINDER leaf inserted 
after p. xviii. Our copy has been carefully 
collated and is complete. Certainly one of the 
most comprehensive early works on Hindu & related 
eastern mythology, with chapters on all the hindu 
gods plus cultural studies of Nepal and Thibet;
